2014

Picture
Sponsored by Innovation First International, L-3 Mission Integration, and Greenville ISD, Team 148, the Robowranglers participated in the 2014 FIRST robotics competition which FIRST has dubbed, "Aerial Assist" has proven to be quite cooperative, though conceptually the objectives of the game are quite simple and very straight forward. This year's game has proven to be an alliance reliable game as alliance partners are able to assist each other in cycles for up to an added 30 points per cycle. While also having the option to throw the 25" diameter ball over the truss for an added 10 points. With the option of another alliance member to catch the over the truss thrown ball for an added 10 points.

From February 27th - March 1st we participated at the Alamo Regional in San Antonio. After qualification matches we were 7-3 and ranked 7th. During alliance selection we were picked by the #2 seed, 2468, Team Appreciate, and later paired with 2789, TEXplosion as the alliance's second pick. As eliminations proceeded we went all the way to the finals to place second. Losing to the #1 seed which consisted of 624, 118, and 3008. In addition to placing second, we also won the Innovation in Control Award sponsored by Rockwell Automation.

Dallas Regional

March 13th - 15th, we made our way to the Irving Convention Center for the Dallas Regional, what we call our home regional. This year we played twelve qualification matches, after which we had a record of 12-0 and seeded first. For eliminations, we picked the second seed, Team 359, The Hawaiian Kids, and for our second pick we selected Team 457, The Grease Monkeys. Eliminations went fairly well for our alliance as we went undefeated becoming the Dallas Regional champions for the sixth consecutive year. In addition to this we won the Motorola Quality Award for the fifth time in the six years the regional has been in existence.

Lone Star (wars) Regional

Our travel team went down to Houston to participate in the Lone Star Regional from April 4th -  6th. This was a difficult regional with a lot of good teams, by the end of qualifications our record was 9-1 and seed first. For alliance selection we chose 118, Robonauts and 2858, Bellaire Robotics. Elimination matches were some of the most difficult matches that we've played this year compared to the difficulty of the Championship Event. However, our alliance prevailed and we placed first, winning the regional. Along with winning the regional we won the Excellence in Engineering Award sponsored by Delphi.
