Sponsored by Innovation First, Inc., L-3 Communications Integrated Systems and Greenville ISD, Team 148, the Robowranglers, participated in the 2009 FIRST Robotics Competition.  In the 2009 FRC game, "Lunacy," two three-team alliances compete in each match.  The object of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent by placing "moon rocks" in the trailers hitched to the opposing alliance's robots.  Team 148's robot, "Tornado," made use of a suction device to store up to 30 "moon rocks" and release them into the opposing alliance's trailers.  "Tornado" led the team to a first place finish at the FRC Dallas Regional with teams 2354 and 418, and as a Quarterfinalist at the FRC Lone Star Regional with teams 418 and 1865.  At the Championship Event in Atlanta, the team advanced to the quarterfinals in the Newton Division with teams 126 and 2377.  The Robowranglers also took home the Motorola Quality Award from the Dallas Regional and the General Motors Industrial Design Award from the Lone Star Regional.
